Project SLAM (Single Living Accommodation Modernisation) is a government funded project which is delivering modern SLA for our Armed Forces personnel across Great Britain. Arc Environmental Ltd project have managed the ground investigation element of over 25 SLAM projects throughout Catterick Garrison (Gaza Barracks, Helles Barracks, Marne Barracks, Piave Lines, Tankadrome and Vimy Barracks) and RAF Leeming, North Yorkshire as well as other military facilities throughout the Country including DISC Chicksands, Bedfordshire, RAF Halton, Cambridgeshire, RAF Wyton, Cambridgeshire, Whittington Barracks, Staffordshire and RAF Brize Norton, Oxfordshire.

Arc provide detailed cost estimates, organise and supervise fieldworks including deep boreholes, mechanically excavated trial pits/trenches, insitu testing, soil and water sampling, ground gas monitoring and other surveys including topographical surveys, tree surveys, radiation surveys, underground mapping surveys (utilising ground probing radar and electro-magnetic techniques), trenching to locate buried services and CCTV drainage condition surveys and rapidly turning around high quality factual site data and results.

Our other responsibilities include liaising with the main contractor, architects, Mechanical and Electrical Engineers and MOD officials. Arc Environmental have received high praise from Debut Services for the quality of the information and as their preferred contractor continue to win work nationally. Other MOD projects outside project SLAM include Catterick Leisure Centre and Library, Defence Estates Area Office North, Numerous Mess Buildings, new access roads, car parks, parade grounds and a 50-bedroom Personnel Recovery and Assessment Centre (PRAC) funded by the Help for Heroes charity.
